Death Skateboards was started in London in 1998. We are skater owned and run.
The name is in reference to the fact that mainstream media proclaimed that skateboarding was ‘Dead’ at the end of the 1970’s. We follow our own direction, not trends or fashion.
Death was not created to please everyone. But it was created to have longevity and exist whether skateboarding remains popular or not.
The Death team are not supposed to be ‘the best', instead, each rider has something about them that really captures the essence of skateboarding to me.
We take pride in making the highest quality products but selling them at a fair price.

Death Skateboards - The Original UK Skater Owned Brand
Death Skateboards is a skater owned brand started in 1998 by Nick Zorlac who still runs the company today.
Running for over 20 years Death is one of the most established UK owned skate brands. Starting with the same iconic skull and crossbones logo they still use today Death Skateboards is truly a brand made by skaters for skaters.
Death makes a fantastic range of affordable decks, trucks, wheels, and other hardware are well as apparel and accessories.
Where Did the Name Death Skateboards Come From
Skateboarding first appeared in California in the 1950s when surfers stepped away from the waves and started to "surf the streets" after a day in the water.
By the early 60s skating had gained fairly widespread popularity, skateboard companies were doing well and there were skate competitions. But by the mid to late 60s that initial rush in popularity seemed to tail off until new wheels, boards and skaters made it popular once more.
However, by the late '70s Skateboarding had taken a second dive and the mainstream media was declaring it was dead.
Skateboarders didn't stop skating, although the movement did go somewhat underground and take on more of an anti-establishment vibe. Death Skateboards gets its name from the idea that if skateboarding is dead, skateboarders who were still going in the 90s must be death.
Nick wanted to create a brand that didn't have to conform. And had no intention of pleasing everyone. And with that has created a cult following and a fantastic team of riders.
